Bed Bath & Beyond will liquidate 150 "lower-producing" shops in August, while CVS will cut 900 over the following three years. Kroger, Lidl, and Whole Foods also closed shops this summer.

50-50 Factory Outlet, a Wisconsin franchise, will close shortly. The corporate website lists shops in Eau Claire, Janesville, Schofield, and Fon du Lac.

In a statement on the company's website, the owner of 50-50 Factory Outlet said he would miss "placing smiles on my clients' faces knowing they are about to have a terrific party"

Party materials are pleasant, but they're not "necessary," and many avoided gatherings during the epidemic. Even 40-year-old 50-50 Factory Outlet can't survive declining demand.

In a news statement, the company cited the COVID-19 epidemic, increased pricing, and inflation as reasons for closing the outlets. Sales declines and stress also contributed.

Definitely sad. We've had and had many terrific employees. This isn't the life path I expected, but I'd want to go with my head held high.

Party goods, workplace and school supplies, home décor, and toys are cheap. Facebook said furniture and other equipment will be 50% off. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
