Portland Timbers visit Seattle Sounders in a crucial MLS match on Friday, with both teams competing for postseason place.
Seattle and Portland are playoff outsiders entering Friday. They're tied for eighth in the Western Conference with 33 points, one behind the Los Angeles Galaxy and Vancouver Whitecaps.
Seattle hasn't won in three matches, including last week's 3-3 tie with the Galaxy. Losses against Real Salt Lake and Atlanta United have not been pleasant.
The Timbers are also struggling. Portland is 0-2-3 in their previous five matches after losing to last-place Sporting Kansas City on Sunday.
The Timbers' overall record isn't great, but they're 5-2-6 at home. The Sounders have won only three of 13 road matches, like Portland.
The home team is the underdog in this rivalry since the away team has won the past four matchups. The Timbers won 3-0 at Lumen Field in July.
