McDonald's had a strong year end at home despite a slower recovery in Europe due to the epidemic.

Strong Christmas and drive-thru sales helped boost U.S. same-store sales by 5.5% in the fourth quarter of 2020.

McDonald's wants to keep the U.S. momentum going by growing its menu, worldwide and domestic operations.

The fast-food company also wants to double down on digital, delivery, and drive-thru operations, which drove major sales during the epidemic.

Upgraded and new McDonald's restaurants will likely accommodate contactless purchases.

In November, the firm announced it was testing new express lines, dedicated pickup places, and computerised ordering to speed up order fulfilment.

McDonald's reduced drive-thru service time by 25 seconds last year by streamlining the menu, but there's still space for improvement.

Drive-thru continues to be a large part of our company, therefore it's a huge priority. Service times can still be shortened.
